Identifying A Problem

Ants Garden ants are usually 3-4mm long of a brown/black colour. Garden ants usually nest outdoors, in lawns, flower beds, beneath paving and at the base of walls.

Worker ants usually go into houses for food and they like food that is sweet and sugary. When one ant finds food, there will soon be others and a trail of worker ants taking the food back to the nest. Garden ants are harmless and are not a public health pest, therefore not a health hazard.

Ants are often treated by using a DIY approach. This however is usually ineffective and often results in toxic chemicals being present in areas they should not be.

What we do

Treatment will need to be carried out on areas such as door frames, airbricks, waste pipes and nesting areas. Treatment can be carried out by Arrowguard using a variety of techniques. Gel is typically applied to areas, encouraging garden ants to feed and take the gel back to the nest. The gel is then ingested by the queen ant and the nest is destroyed. Alternatively, residual insecticide sprays or dusts can be used. Our qualified technician will assess the safest and most effective solution to your infestation, considering in particular the health of pets and children.
