Identifying A Problem
Fleas are tiny insects around 1-4mm long and black/brownish in colour. They do not have wings but they can lay twenty five eggs a day.
Fleas live exclusively as parasites of warm blooded animals such as cats and dogs, and also humans. Their eggs are slightly sticky and are laid on bedding, clothing, and fur/hair of the host. Carpets will provide a warm stable environment for fleas to breed and they can live in cracks and crevices of bare floors.
Fleas qualify as a so called ‘nuisance pest’ rather than a ‘public health pest’. Fleas will bite their potential host but not everyone is susceptible, although if bitten the bites may cause severe irritation and can become infected.
Assessment, Treatment and Guarantee
Arrowguard offers a call-out service to treat fleas in your premises. Our service is fast, effective, and offers the highest level of safety for people and pets. If the infestation came from a pet we recommend a veterinary product be used to treat the animal. All animal bedding and accessories should be washed in a fifty plus degree wash.
We would ask that the all the rooms being treated be vacuumed throughout and the vacuum cleaner should be emptied and cleaned. We would request that floors must be cleared of household items prior to treatment, as we will be spraying a water based chemical onto these areas and around skirting boards and wall floor junctions.
We advise that you give up to two weeks for the full treatment to work as the chemical kills only the adult fleas, not the larvae. The flea larvae may appear during and up to fourteen days after the treatment, which is normal, and the treatment will then kill them.

While every flea treatment is different, pricing is generally decided on the size of the property. An indication cost for one treatment would be from £50 + VAT.
